Who We Are?
Historical Background
The early period of the existence of the Club was shaped by visionary members who worked assiduously to achieve their collective visions for the Club. The first Executive Council, which was headed by Dr C. O. Kolade, was elected on 29th May 1991.
Business Club Ikeja (BCI) was registered as a legal entity in 1996; therefore, as a body recognised by law, BCI will mark its 30th anniversary in 2026.
At the initial state, member-organisations were only represented by Chief Executives and Deputies, but, over the yeas, it has been structured to accommodate other categories of membership and representation.
In the early years, the geographical spread of membership was confined to Ikeja, Oregun, Ketu, Isolo, Oshodi, Mushin and Otta in neighbouring Ogun State.
Through a number of progressive initiatives and strong branding of the club, membership has extended to Victoria Island, Apapa, and many parts of Lagos and Ogun States.
In its early years, members’ premises served as the Secretariat, while meetings were held at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja. A permanent location was later secured at the MAN Centre Complex, Wemabod Estate, Ikeja, Through the contributions of members, the Club was able to put up a prestigious edifice at the Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja which now houses the Secretariat.
